Zalando image size guide 2026
Quick answer
Zalando images must be portrait at 1:1.44, in JPG or JPEG, sRGB, up to 20 MB. Best practice is 1801 x 2600 px and the minimum is 762 x 1100 px, with 1800 x 2600 px for designer brands. Primary packshots need a white background, which the shop then displays on light grey.
Zalando's partner guidelines were updated in September 2026 and state the spec clearly: portrait, 1:1.44, JPEG, sRGB, up to 20 MB. Best practice is 1801 x 2600 px and the minimum is 762 x 1100 px.
Designer brands have a higher minimum of 1800 x 2600 px. The table's light background entry means white for primary packshots; the shop then displays them on light grey.

Getting the ratio exactly right
The system rounds to two decimals, and Zalando's own example marks 1.445 and 1.446 as wrong because they round to 1.45. To stay safe, use a fixed export preset of 1801 x 2600 or 762 x 1100 and avoid cropping by hand. Oversized or off-ratio images may be cropped by Zalando's retouchers, who can also reposition packshots against its view grids.
Views and grids
Every article needs a catalogue view showing the full product, from the front or at a subtle angle. Footwear shows the full side profile. Downloadable grids set the position: apparel and shoes fill about 80% of the frame, centred, and bags sit in the lower third. Apparel packshots should not have straps or inner back views removed, and packaging is accepted only for accessories, jewellery, electronics and beauty.
Questions
Does Zalando accept PNG images?
The guidelines list JPG and JPEG as the image type, so convert PNG files before you submit. Flatten any transparency onto white for a packshot first, because transparent areas can turn black or unexpected colours when a file is converted without a background.
What background do Zalando model images need?
Any background colour, setting or location is allowed for backshots and model views. To work as a catalogue view, though, a model image should use a colour from the Zalando background range. White model views are accepted, but they cannot serve as the front crop.
Can child models be used in every Zalando category?
No. Zalando says not to use child models for nightwear, underwear or beachwear, and to present those items with packshots on an invisible mannequin or flat-lay. Styling for child models should stay natural and age-appropriate, without makeup or stereotypes.
What is the minimum image size for Zalando designer brands?
Designer brands need at least 1800 x 2600 pixels, against the general minimum of 762 x 1100. Since best practice for everyone is 1801 x 2600, exporting at that size covers both cases, and you avoid keeping a second export preset for designer articles.
How much of the frame should a product fill on Zalando?
About 80% for apparel and shoes, centred, according to Zalando's downloadable grids. Bags sit in the lower third, so that figure does not carry over to them. Zalando's retouchers can also reposition packshots against its view grids after you submit.
Can I show packaging in Zalando images?
Only for some categories. Packaging is accepted for accessories, jewellery, electronics and beauty. For everything else, show the article itself. Apparel packshots also should not have straps or inner back views removed, so leave those in place when you retouch.
What is a catalogue view on Zalando?
It is the view every article needs, showing the full product from the front or at a subtle angle. Footwear shows the full side profile instead. A model image can serve as a catalogue view if it uses a colour from the Zalando background range.
